06.02.2001
To all European National Flying Disc Associations
Dear National Association Representative,
we are pleased to inform you that the European Flying Disc Federation (EFDF) has accepted the bid from a group of Ultimate players from the Czech Republic to host the EFDF European Ultimate Club Championship 2001 in Prague during the week of July 8th to 14th, 2001. EFDF is excited to see a revival of this European premier event and after a long period of communication with the hosts we are confident that this event will be very well organised and the top highlight of this year's European Ultimate season. The EUCC 2001 will also serve as ranking inbetween the European teams prior to the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships 2002 in Hawaii.
EFDF wishes to see the best teams from your country participate. This letter is meant to help coordinate the selection of teams from each country and inform you of other important considerations regarding the tournament.
Team Selection
We are planning on hosting the tournament for 32-40 Open division, 16-24 Womens, 8-12 Masters and 12-16 Mixed teams. These numbers are rather vague at the moment as we do not really know how the interest in the various divisions will be. The total number of teams is mainly limited by the accommodation facilities and we plan to adjust the numbers in the different divisions according to the interest we receive.
EFDF, with your help, will be responsible for selecting the participating teams. The process will be similar to the World Club Championship team selection in that each country receives a team entry (for Open and Women divisions only) based on the results of the World Ultimate Club Championships of 1999 and the World Ultimate Championships in 2000 (see table below).
We need your help as the National Representative to coordinate the selection of teams from your country. You are responsible for contacting interested teams from your country, ranking the teams (teams will be selected and seeded according to the ranking you provide), and sending us this information in time to enable EFDF to select and confirm the teams that receive entries. If there are many teams interested in competing from your country, we encourage you to register them all, since a waiting list will be set up to take teams into the tournament, in case a single country does not use their full quota or teams do not submit their team fees in time.

Roster requirements
Below are the eligibility rules for the EUCC 2001, as they have been at earlier EUCCs. Please note that they differ in some parts from the WFDF eligibility rules which were used for the WUCC in 1999. You should be aware of these roster requirements, since you are expected to inspect the rosters of the teams from your country and countersign them before sending them to us.
1. Definition of a club team:
"A team comprised of players, who have not for the last three months prior to the European Ultimate Club Championship tournament played, competed and entered into competitive tournaments with any other team and who reside in the same geographic locality.
A local sports club that is a legally recognized entity and has a large enough regular membership base to support more than a single competing team may enter into the tournament with a single team comprised of players selected from any regularly competing team of the club."
2. Exceptions
All exceptions to the club team definition shall be submitted to the approval of the national association of the country, which the team represents, and the approval of the EFDF. These exceptions can be of the nature of e.g. a player who resides in another area, but has strong ties with the club.
The team roster forms will have a separate column to provide details on any exceptions to the club definitions that the team wishes to submit for consi-deration by the respective national association and the EFDF.
To encourage participation in the Womens and the Masters division, Womens and Masters teams will be granted reasonable exceptions to the club definition up to, but not including 50% of the complete team roster. (E.g. 8 true members + 7 exceptions = 15 players.)
Team rosters should be filled out by team captains, countersigned by a representative of the respective national association, and received by the tournament directorate in Prague by June 25th, 2001.
